In this globally competitive era the competition serves to showcase and benchmark Sri Lankan ICT products. The competition has been conducted in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan section of the BCS The Chartered Institute for IT.
The avowed objectives of the NBQSA competition are threefold; to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka who/which have contributed to the development of ICT, to create a window to gain international recognition for locally developed ICT products and to improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services to be able to compete in the international market place.
NBQSA, Provides recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka who have developed high quality ICT products; Provides a window to gain International Recognition of Local ICT products; Improves the Quality of Local products & Services to meet International Standards and Identifies young talent and provide them an opportunity to develop their skills in ICT.
BCS Sri Lanka section organises NBQSA since 1998 and nominates the national participants for the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) since 2003.
NBQSA was organised under 9 head categories for both student and commercial with 9 special awards, ICT entrepreneur of the year, Lifetime achievers award, The Postgraduate Students awards, Public sector Outstanding Achievements Award which was introduced in 2013 to open up a new avenue for Sri Lankan Public institutions and to recognise their contributions to the public.
Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are presented in these categories provided that there are winners in these categories.
